A God For All Generations
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Psalm 90:1-2
Babies born this year will be part of a new generation—Generation Beta. Human life is an ever-flowing, ever-changing experience. One generation passes, and another takes its place. Over the years, as a pastor, I’ve seen this firsthand, conducting a funeral in the same week that I visited a church family’s newborn baby.
While our lives are constantly in flux, there is One Who remains the same. He’s been the God of every generation, and will be the God of many born in Generation Beta. In Psalm 90, Moses celebrates the fact that God is the God of all generations - that was true back then and is true today. You and I serve the God of Moses, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our God precedes the generations, creates the generations, loves the generations, and desires to have a relationship with each member of the generations. But it’s up to us to tell this new generation about Him!
What are you doing to reach this generation, and the next, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Dear God of all Generations, Thank You that remain the same great God throughout the passing of time. I pray that You will help me actively tell this generation and the next about Your love and salvation. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
