An Award For Being Ugly
We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 KJV
Petunia won the title of the World’s Ugliest Dog for 2025!
This may not seem like a “good” award to win, but don’t tell Petunia. She is loved by her owner and celebrated by many now that she has the prize.
This article made me think about how God loves us despite our ugliness. No, I’m not talking about our physical appearance, I’m talking about how we “act ugly” at times. As believers, we have been forgiven, but we still sin. Thankfully, our Father doesn’t get rid of us, disown us, or cast us away. Instead, the Holy Spirit convicts us and brings us to repentance.
We are deeply loved despite our appearance, actions, or pedigree! However, this is not an excuse to go on sinning. Jesus forgave the woman caught in adultery, but He told her to “Go and sin no more” (John 8:1-11). Forgiveness is ours for the asking, but it should be our aim to live without sinning. But when we do sin, He is ready to receive us. This is not an award for our ugliness, it’s a sign of God’s goodness! He is a God of grace and mercy. Hallelujah!!
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for loving us and enabling us to love You and others. Forgive us our many sins and restore us to a right fellowship with You. Today, strengthen us to say “no” to temptation and “yes” to obedience. We know that Your way is always best. In the mighty Name of Jesus, we ask this, Amen.
