Dealing with Fear and Anxiety
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Do you suffer from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?
Ironically, that word means you have a fear of long words.
People have all sorts of fears and phobias. But it's one thing to be nervous around spiders or snakes, but it's another thing if you have crippling anxiety over something.
God doesn't want us to live in fear. In fact, if we have a spirit of fear, it does not come from Him. Through His enablement, we can have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.
The Bible instructs us to bring our fears and anxiety to the Lord. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
We don't have to fear long words, large tests, or lengthy storms. We can trust that Jesus is more than able to help us through life's trials, and we can rest in Him.
Dear Father of Glory, My heart is timid and afraid. There is so much to worry and be anxious about. I bring my fears to You and ask for Your help. Please bring peace to my life by guarding my heart and mind. I rest in Your power, goodness, love, and constant care. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
