Hurry Up And Grow!?
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
The Wall Street Journal reported that at its peak, a Chick-fil-A drive-through in Rockford, Illinois, served a car every 13 seconds!
Talk about FAST FOOD!! I can't even get my wallet out that quick!
While this kind of speed is great for chicken sandwiches, it's killer for spiritual growth. We live in a busy, fast, hurried society, but growing in Jesus takes time. Lots of time! You cannot have a 13-second devotional each day and expect to mature in your faith.
Praying takes time.
Bible study takes time.
Church attendance takes time.
Serving takes time.
Evangelism takes time.
And it's not just one time; it's over and over. Day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year. Remember that Jesus told us to pray this way: "Give us this day our daily bread." So, slow down, pull over, and give time to your most important relationship. Spend time with Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You desire to fellowship with me. Please help me to slow down in life and spend time on what is most important, beginning with time with You. In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
